The Clubhouse offers educational opportunities for members to complete or start certificate and degree programs at academic institutions and adult education programs. The Clubhouse assists members to further their vocational and educational goals by helping them take advantage of adult education opportunities in the community. When the Clubhouse also provides an in-house educational program, it significantly utilizes the teaching and tutoring skills of other members.

The ‘Education Station’ at Crossroads tours an educational program in the Tulsa area each month to obtain information regarding available educational opportunities and to establish connections with schools in the community. Also, Crossroads holds a “Study Hour” each Friday afternoon, where those currently enrolled in educational programs can work quietly or with member tutors to complete homework/study. Crossroads also provides assistance in obtaining financial aid. Currently, Crossroads has approximately ten members currently enrolled in educational programs, ranging from GED programs to continuing education and degree programs.

Kon ni chi wa, my name is Laurence. When I was first in college, I had a nervous breakdown and was forced to leave school. I thought I would never get the opportunity to return to college and finish my education. When I started volunteering at Crossroads, they gave me hope that I could return to school and complete my Associate’s Degree. The Crossroads community supported me to receive accommodations at school. I earned my Associate’s Degree in Science. Now I have goals of going back to school and earning my Bachelor’s Degree. I have already been applying to schools in Oklahoma. I hope to be able to return to school in the fall.

Hello! I would like to share how Crossroads Clubhouse has helped me to continue my goal to obtain my General Education Diploma (GED). It all started by having support from Crossroads. That enabled me to take a placement test and enroll in GED classes, which I attend four days a week for three and half hours each day. I have taken the GED test three times and am getting ready to take it a fourth time this spring. With support from Crossroads, my score has increased each time I have taken the test, and I am eager for the day I obtain my high school diploma! I know that with help from the Education Station and my supportive community that I will achieve my goal very soon. Thanks, Crossroads!
